These animals are very large; they are twice as large as a tiger. Adult males weigh from 880 to 1,320 pounds and occasionally exceed 1,760 pounds. Adult females weigh from 330 to 550 pounds and occasionally exceed 600 pounds. These animals are the largest predators on land.
